Power Of Praise!
As a believer, praise should always be in your arsenal. Something ALWAYS happens when we praise God! Let's take a look at Jehoshaphat;
17 You shall not need to fight in this battle; take your positions, stand still, and see the deliverance of the Lord [Who is] with you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Fear not nor be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.
18. And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before the Lord, worshiping Him.
19. And some Levites of the Kohathites and Korahites stood up to praise the Lord, the God of Israel, with a very loud voice.
20. And they rose early in the morning and went out into the Wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem! Believe in the Lord your God and you shall be established; believe and remain steadfast to His prophets and you shall prosper.
21. When he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers to sing to the Lord and praise Him in their holy [priestly] garments as they went out before the army, saying, Give thanks to the Lord, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever!
22. And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the men of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir who had come against Judah, and they were [self-] slaughtered;” 2 Chronicles 20:17-22 (Amplified Bible,)
There are several things that stand out in these couple of versus,
You shall not need to fight in this battle
Fear not, nor be dismayed
They appointed singers to sing to the Lord and praise Him
When they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments
God gave them specific instructions on how to gain territory back from the enemy. The same weapon God gave them he gave you, PRAISE! When you’re faced with challenges, don’t complain, cry or talk negative but learn to praise God!
So many times we are use to fighting. Some of us have had to fight ALL of our lives but the great thing about being a child of God is that you don’t need to fight! As a matter of fact, He ask you to “Stand Still”. That means stop trying to fix it in your own strength and rest in His strength. Let’s take a look at the different kinds of praise.
HALLAL: A primary Hebrew root word for praise. Our word "hallelujah" comes from this base word. It means "to be clear, to praise, to shine, to boast, show, to rave, celebrate, to be clamorously foolish."
Psalm 150:1 “Praise (hallal) the Lord! Praise (hallal) God in His sanctuary; Praise (hallal) Him in His mighty expanse.”
YADAH: Meaning, "the extended hand, to throw out the hand, therefore to worship with extended hand, to lift the hands.”
Psalm 107:15 Oh that men would praise (yadah) the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men.
TOWDAH: comes from the same principle root word as yadah, but is used more specifically. Towdah literally means, "an extension of the hand in adoration, or acceptance.” Is used for thanking God for "things not yet received" as well as things already at hand.
Psalm 50:23 Whoso offereth praise (towdah) glorifieth Me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.
SHABACH: Means, "to shout, to address in a loud tone, to
command, to triumph."
Psalm 47:1 O clap your hands, all peoples; shout (shabach) to God with the voice of joy (or triumph).
Psalm 145:4 One generation shall praise (shabach) Thy works to another and declare Thy mighty acts
Let your week be filled with Praise. Give God the praise and watch Him move on your behalf!
